INVASIVE SPECIES IN CANNING LAKE

There have been three different invasive species identified in Canning Lake. The Eurasian Water-Milfoil, Spiny Waterflea and the larvae or veliger stage of the Zebra Mussel. Below are the fact sheets, as published by the province of Ontario in the "Field Guide to Aquatic Invasive Species (2008)", with description and photos of the species in Canning Lake.  The photos of the developed Zebra Mussels are shown for reference and identification only.  So far no Zebra Mussels developed past the larvae or veliger stage have been found in Canning Lake. The lake association does tests on an annual basis for any changes in the invasive species status.
